Ada Wong
A Cultural Music Practitioner (Guzheng-based)
Da 21Strings Collective, founded by Ada Wong, brings the sound of the guzheng into contemporary cultural spaces through performance, education, and collaboration.
Ada is a Toronto-based guzheng performer working at the intersection of traditional Chinese music and contemporary cross-cultural practice. She integrates classical training with modern performance approaches to present the guzheng in diverse artistic and community contexts.
She holds a Performance Level Certification in Guzheng from the Central Conservatory of Music of China and advanced piano certifications from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her work reflects a dual foundation in Eastern and Western musical traditions, allowing her to move fluidly between classical repertoire, reinterpretation, and contemporary collaboration.
Ada has performed at cultural festivals, community programs, and interdisciplinary events across Toronto and beyond. Her practice focuses on expanding the visibility of the guzheng in contemporary music spaces through collaboration, education, and audience engagement.
Her work is grounded in cultural dialogue, with a focus on accessibility, innovation, and connection across communities. She is particularly interested in collaborative projects that explore cross-genre performance, intercultural exchange, and new contexts for traditional instruments.
Ada is open to collaborations with musicians, composers, and multidisciplinary artists, as well as performance opportunities in festivals, cultural programming, and curated concert series.
